When Times Are Bad, Nursing Looks Good
The weak economy is easing the nursing crunch, the WSJ reports. It’s a welcome side effect from inflationary pressures on families across the country and pinches on employment in other fields.
nursesWhen money is tight many nurses with flexible schedules take on extra shifts, moving from part-time to full-time. Other nurses are postponing retirement or returning to the work force after a hiatus, the WSJ reports.
But the improvement in staffing may last only until the economy picks up. Nursing employment has been a kind of reverse economic indicator in recent decades.
